Introduction


This article provides basic information about the B Lab Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to serve as “learners and leaders” and support for the Director of JEDI by supporting internal JEDI efforts across B Lab, Inc. (Global, Trust, and US/Canada). Each member attends annual JEDI-related trainings, offer advice and feedback on division goals and initiatives, and support org-wide learning.

B Lab Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee

Committee Purpose:

The purpose of the Committee to serve as “learners and leaders” and support for the Director of EDI and Director of Inclusive Economies by supporting internal JEDI efforts across B Lab, Inc (Global, Trust, and US/Canada). Each member will be expected to attend JEDI-related trainings annually, offer advice and feedback on division goals and initiatives, and support org-wide learning.


Committee Vision

The B Lab Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee envisions an organization and community that embodies shared and durable prosperity for all, as evidenced by the following: 

  • 100% of staff report seeing B Lab's JEDI philosophy applied in practice in their day-to-day work.

  • A work environment at B Lab that creates equal employment opportunities, a positive and inclusive workplace, and a safe space to educate ourselves and one another on relevant global and local issues around JEDI. 

  • A diverse movement of people using business as a force for good (B Economy) to accelerate our global vision – that all companies will compete to be best for the world and, as a result, society will enjoy a more shared and durable prosperity.


Committee Mission

In partnership with the broader team, the mission of the EDI Committee is to devote resources and time to: 

  • Advocating and ensuring accountability for EDI commitments across the whole organization and within the B Corp community. 
  • Being a conduit for the needs of B Lab team members and the B Corp Community
  • Advocating for and ensuring the consistent application of equitable policies, practices, and learning opportunities for personal and professional development.


Seeking Requests and Advice From the Committee

Teams and staff are asked to use the JEDI Committee Google Form when seeking assistance, advice or feedback from the JEDI Team. The form collects the following information:

  • Brief description of request (feedback, content review, advice, long term engagement, etc.)
  • Timeline

The committee will review all requests and determine the appropriate response.
